Sona FM 89.6, surveyed 1500 people in Salem and Yercaud region to understand their needs and wants in community radio. Forty student volunteers from the Visual Communications Department of Sona College of Arts & Science helped to carry out this survey. Using a stratified random sampling method, the student volunteers interviewed individuals to gather information on their household demographics, socioeconomic status, radio listenership, and expectations from community radio.
Results from the surveys helped us to understand and define our target audience, types and timing of programs, potential depth, and reach of community radio.
The volunteers are presented with the Certification of Participation in recognition of their valuable contribution to Sona FM.
